GEIR RONNING & JORUN ERDAL |

|
"Lost And Found" (listen here) |
|
This year Norwegian broadcaster NRK is having a much bigger Eurovision selection process, in volving four semi-finals and a final. The selection kicked off on January 13th in the town of Alta in Lapland. Two songs progressed to the final which will be staged in Oslo on February 4th. Geir Ronning returned to his
native country, having represented Finland in Kyiv with the song "Why". Now he has teamed up with local favourite Jorun Erdal who is hoping for "third time lucky" having competed in the 2000 and 2005 Norwegian finals. Their song "Lost And Found" is a typically well produced and performed Scandinavian
Eurovision song and would be quite a contrast to both Geir's 2005 Eurovision entry and even moreso compared to WigWam's Norwegian entry in Kyiv. You can find more information on Jorun Erdal here and Geir Ronning here. |

TRINE REIN |
|
"Here For The Show" (listen here) |
Despite having to be sung twice, after sound problems ruined the first performance, the second song which progressed to the Norwegian final from Alta is called "Here For The Show" which is similar in style to Robbie Williams' "Let Me Entertain You" hit from 1998. The singer of the song may not be a familiar name in most of
Europe, but Trine Rein is very well known in Scandinavia and especially in her native Norway. During the 1990's she enjoyed a string of hit singles and albums. Her best known hit is probably "Torn", which later went on to be a massive international success for Australian actress and singer Natalie Imgruglia. Having had a
quite few years, Trine will be hoping that "Here For The Show" will bring her back into the public spotlight, especially if she earns the ticket to Athens, where Norway are already guaranteed finalists. You can find more information on Trine Rein here and on the entire Norwegian
selection here.

LORDI |

"Hard Rock Hallelujah" (listen here or watch it here). |
The music in the Eurovision Song Contest is certainly becoming a little more diverse in recent years and Finnish rock group Lordi is hoping that heavy metal now has a place in the competition. Lordi were a surprise inclusion in the list of performerrs in this year's Finnish
Eurovision selection, and on January 13th their song "Rock Hard Hallelujah" managed to qualify for the Finnish Eurovision selection which will be stated on March 10th. It's certainly going to very different from most of the other songs in contention for the Eurovision crown in 2006, but after drumming Moldovan grannies who
can tell what will work in the contest these days? You can find more information on Lordi here., and I will have more songs from the Finnish final later.
