Below you can find
a list of the forty five countries that have taken part in the
Eurovision Song Contest, from the first competition in 1956 to the
most recent event in 2006. Only Germany has entered every single
contest, however in 1996 their entry failed in the pre-qualification
competition, meaning that they did not compete in Oslo. The United
Kingdom has the longest uninterrupted run in the contest, having
performed every year since 1959. Morocco and Armenia have the briefest Eurovision histories, Morocco having only competed once in 1980, while Armenia made its Eurovision debut in Athens in 2006. There
has been a significant expansion of the competition in the last thirteen
years and it has been widely speculated that several new countries, including Montenegro and Serbia as separate entities may compete in 2007.
